- Lise Alschuler, N.D., FABNO
Lise Alschuler earned her undergraduate degree from Brown University in Medical Anthropology and her doctoral degree in naturopathic medicine from Bastyr University. Dr. Alschuler is board certified in naturopathic oncology and has a part-time practice with Naturopathic Specialists. Dr. Alschuler also works as an independent consultant in the area of practitioner and consumer health education. She is past-President of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians and a founding and current board member of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
Dr. Alschuler is the co-author of The Definitive Guide to Cancer and The Definitive Guide to Thriving After Cancer. She co-created www.FiveToThrivePlan.com, and co-hosts a radio show, Five To Thrive Live! on www.w4CS.com.
- Kelly Baltazar, ND, DC, MS
Dr. Baltazar received her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine in 2005 from Bastyr University. She completed her Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine in 2006 from National University of Health Sciences. She obtained her Master of Science in Advanced Clinical Practice in 2009 from National University of Health Sciences. Dr. Baltazar was the Chief Clinician of the Naturopathic program at National University of Health Sciences from 2008-2013. Dr. Baltazar is currently a Naturopathic Oncology Provider at Cancer Treatment Centers of America – Midwestern Regional Center.
- Timothy C. Birdsall, N.D., FABNO
Dr. Tim Birdsall is Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) for Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA). He has been with CTCA since 1998, previously serving as Director of Naturopathic Medicine at Midwestern Regional Medical Center in Zion, IL, National Director of Naturopathic Medicine for CTCA, and Vice President of Integrative Medicine. As CMIO, Dr. Birdsall’s primary role is to provide the CTCA clinical staff with robust, effective and efficient technology in the form of an Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Clinical Decision Support tools to allow them to provide the highest level of care to our patients. He also functions as a senior executive in both the Clinical Affairs and IT departments, bridging the gaps between clinicians and clinical practice, technology solutions, and administrative process. A well-known lecturer and practitioner of naturopathic medicine, and advocate for comprehensive healthcare informatics systems, Dr. Birdsall has been invited to testify before numerous state legislatures, regulatory boards, and governmental panels, including the Institute of Medicine and the NIH. He received the Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (N.D.) degree from Bastyr University in Seattle in 1985. Dr. Birdsall is active in numerous professional organizations, including the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), American Society of Clinical Oncology, Society for Integrative Oncology, CHIME and HIMSS. He is currently serves on the board of directors of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians, and is a Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology. Dr. Birdsall was the founding editor-in-chief of the journal Alternative Medicine Review, and currently serves on the Editorial Consultants Board for Integrative Cancer Therapies. In 2007, he was appointed to serve on the National Advisory Council for Complementary and Alternative Medicine of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). As an active clinical researcher, Dr. Birdsall is the holder of one U. S. Patent, and since 2006 has been an author on over 25 abstracts accepted at major medical meetings, including the American Society for Clinical Oncology, the Society for Integrative Oncology, the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium, and the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
- Robin DiPasquale, ND, RH (AHG)
Robin DiPasqualeis a licensed naturopathic physician and registered herbalist. Following graduation from Bastyr University, she served there as a faculty member for 15 years, as department chair of botanical medicine for 8 years, during which time she developed and implemented the Bachelors of Science in Herbal Sciences degree program. Dr. DiPasquale continues as an adjunct faculty at Bastyr University where she teaches Introduction to Gemmotherapy and Herbal Medicine in Italy, a 2-week intensive weaving the study of plant medicines, Italian culture, and yoga and meditation. She holds an appointment as Clinical/Affiliate faculty at the University of Washington Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Systems Department where she teaches botanical medicine in their CAM program. In addition, Dr. DiPasquale lectures throughout the U.S., Canada, and Italy at naturopathic and herbal conferences and seminars. Dr. DiPasquale has a clinical practice in Madison, Wisconsin at Red Lotus Healing Arts, and is the first naturopathic physician to work as a consultant with the University of Wisconsin Integrative Medicine program. She uses an eclectic collection of healing tools in her practice, including gemmotherapy, and is one of the leading teachers of gemmotherapy in the U.S. Robin is published nationally and internationally on works related to herbs, herbal medicine, and gemmotherapy.
- Eliot Edwards, ND, FABNO
Eliot W. Edwards, ND, FABNO is a 2002 graduate from National College of Naturopathic Medicine where he earned his Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree. His undergraduate degree was in physics and chemistry which he earned in 1990 from State University of New York College at Oneonta. Dr. Edwards was in private practice in upstate New York from 2002-2009. In 2009 he joined the Naturopathic Medicine Department at Cancer Treatment Centers of America, in Zion, IL. At CTCA he offers naturopathic support in an integrative setting, working collaboratively with medical oncologists. He was also a Clinic instructor at National University of Health Science in Lombard, IL and has lectured extensively to community groups as well as health care practitioners on naturopathic medicine and integrative healthcare. In April, 2013 he became a Fellow to the American Board of Naturopathic Oncologists (FABNO) after completing a rigorous application process and passing Board Certification examination. Dr. Edwards is the President of the Illinois Association of Naturopathic Physicians and also served as the VP of ILANP. He is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, and the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians. He is a past member of the New York Association of Naturopathic Physicians where he also served as VP.
- Fraser Smith, ND
Fraser Smith, ND, is Assistant Dean of Naturopathic Medicine at National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Ill. Dr. Smith graduated from Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine where he later served as faculty member and eventually Dean of the Naturopathic Program. He is also the author of the textbook An Introduction to Principles and Practices of Naturopathic Medicine.
- Lorinda Sorensen, ND
Dr. Lorinda Sorensen is an assistant professor at National University of Health Sciences, where she teaches many classes with a specialization in botanical medicine. She studied Acupuncture and Naturopathic medicine at Bastyr University, where she received a doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine (ND), and a Master’s of Science in Acupuncture (MSA). Dr. Sorensen is licensed as a Naturopathic Physician (Washington) and is also board certified in acupuncture by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (USA). She specializes in women’s health, gastrointestinal problems, chronic disease and stress management.
- Laura Sunn, MD
Dr. Sunn graduated magna cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis, MO prior to receiving her doctorate at the University of Missouri Medical School in Columbia, MO. Dr. Sunn’s honors thesis compared Native American herbal medicine to ancient Chinese medical botany. Dr. Sunn completed her internship/residency in General Psychiatry at The Menninger Foundation in Topeka, Kansas and completed her fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. Dr. Sunn is certified through the Federation of State Medical Boards and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Sunn is a member of numerous organizations including the American Academy of Child Psychiatry, America Psychiatric Association, Wisconsin State Medical Society and the National Association for the Dually Diagnosed. Dr. Sunn currently practices at Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Midwestern Regional Medical Center. She has been in practice since 1986.
- Joseph Vazquez
Mr. Vazquez received his B.S in Chemistry from Austin Peay State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He is currently a candidate for a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree with an anticipated graduation in December 2013. Mr. Vazquez has led and completed four research projects of which four grants, two scholarships and five awards were gained. Mr. Vazquez has published and presented on the topic of Lyme disease.
- Scott Woodworth, ND
Scott Woodworth, ND is a Naturopathic Physician licensed in the State of Vermont and Province of British Columbia. Dr. Woodworth is a Graduate of the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (2000) and is a member of the Canadian Naturopathic Association and Nova Scotia Association of Naturopathic Doctors He recently returned home to Nova Scotia to resume private practice following a 2 year stint as a Naturopathic Oncology Provider at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America location in Zion, Illinois. Dr. Woodworth has specialized in Autoimmune Disease management since beginning practice in May of 2000. He has lectured for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada, Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation, the Canadian Arthritis Network and several other provincial and community health groups. He specializes in the Naturopathic treatment and management of Inflammatory Bowel disorders, Rheumatic and Connective tissues disorders. He is currently completing a book on Nutritional management of Autoimmune Disorders.
